How to prepare your staircase by sanding and cleaning for renovation

< Back to overview

Proper preparation is crucial. When your wood is already treated, it is important to completely sand down the previous treatment to ensure that our oil can form the molecular bond with the cellulose fibres in the wood. It's important to sand scratch-free and evenly because sanding defects and scratches are accentuated by oiling.

After sanding, you need to make the surface dustfree. Vacuum it thoroughly and afterwards, depending on the desired end result, you can use either:

The WoodPrep which removes residues from sanding dust and minimises sanding errors. This preparatory cleaner will roughen up the wood fibers giving you a deeper and more even color. The product is ideal for the preparation of wood and provides a deep, intense and even Oil Plus 2C colour.

The Rubio Monocoat Cleaner, which is used as a cleaner for raw wood surfaces before the application of Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C. The product is also used to clean the materials that were used during the application.
